To the east of Old Oakville along the lakeshore the next neighbourhood is Morrison district. This area is bounded by Chartwell Road in the West, Maple Grove Drive in the East, Cornwall Road in the North and Lake Ontario to the South. Another established area of Oakville, mostly developed in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Many of the Morrison district properties are unfenced and the lots tend to run into one another creating the illusion of a huge park with the homes randomly dotted within. Lots in this area are large and in recent years there has been a significant amount of rebuilding going on as the smaller 1950’s properties have been torn down and replaced by more modern, much larger homes. This trend has resulted in very high land values with tear down properties on the larger level lots selling at $1,000,000+ just for land value.
There are still some remaining older farmhouses, one that sticks in my mind is the family home on Wedgewood Drive with the cemetery in the side yard, dating back to the late 19th century when the property was a working farm.
Properties currently on the market in this area range from $899,000 for a small bungalow on a lot just south of Cornwall road to $11,388,000 for 14735 sq ft on a 1.15 acre lot on Chartwell.
